Dawn Taylor, who hails from Metairie, Louisiana, is a proud resident of Gulfport, a military veteran, and a strong advocate for equality and inclusion. She dedicated over 20 years to the U.S. Air Force, retiring as a Senior Non-Commissioned Officer after serving in various locations around the world—from Las Vegas to Italy and many other places in between.

After her retirement from active duty in 2014, Dawn made Gulfport her home with her wife and two children, where she continued her public service at Keesler Air Force Base as a federal employee for eight years. Subsequently, she transitioned to remote work for a defense contractor before choosing to pursue her passion full-time as a small business owner and professional pet sitter.

Dawn has earned two Associate degrees, a Bachelor’s degree, and a Master’s in Education with a focus on Educational Technology from Louisiana State University. Throughout her career, she has received recognition for her leadership, integrity, and commitment to service—principles that continue to inspire her active participation in community-oriented initiatives.

As an openly LGBTQ+ veteran and spouse, Dawn recognizes the significance of advocacy, representation, and the creation of safe, inclusive environments. Her personal experiences and leadership history drive her commitment to supporting the Gulf Coast Equality Council’s mission to promote equality, enhance understanding, and empower all community members.
