Mary Angcaya Chapman
Mary Angcaya Chapman was born and raised in Madison, Mississippi, and moved to the Gulf Coast in January of 2014. Mary obtained a bachelor’s degree in Criminal Justice from the University of Southern Mississippi. She is a Security and Risk Professional currently working at Harrah’s Gulf Coast Hotel & Casino. She oversees training for the Security Department and developed and implemented a Security Officer Training Academy designed specifically for the property. Mary works with outside agencies to ensure pivotal training and resources are available not just for Security, but for all other departments as well.
Before she moved to the coast, Mary and her wife met through their involvement in roller derby. Mary was a coach for the Magnolia Roller Vixens in Jackson, and her wife was a skater for the Mississippi Rollergirls in Gulfport. Mary volunteered as a coach and non-skating official over the span of 10 years for both teams, as well as teams located in Columbus and Hattiesburg, Mississippi, Mobile, Alabama, and in New Orleans, Lafayette, and Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
Mary and her wife purchased their first home in 2020, and officially tied the knot on April 3rd, 2021. They currently reside in Biloxi with their rescue dogs.
Her intention is to contribute to the advocacy for safety, wellbeing, and inclusivity of the LGBTQIA+ community along the Mississippi Gulf Coast.
When she’s not volunteering in her community, Mary enjoys watching sports, kayaking, spending time outdoors, finding and cooking new recipes, sharpening her Mario Kart skills, and enjoying the many amenities and experiences that the Gulf Coast has to offer.
